Let me explain how!

When you take care of your physical and emotional well-being, you are naturally more fit and capable of taking on responsibilities.

If you have taken care of your body, you will not get tired and will be able to cope with the day better. When you take care of your emotional and mental well-being, you will find it easier to accomplish tough tasks and even take care of others around you.

Many people believe that they should take care of others and taking care of themselves is selfish. But the truth is far from it!

This is because when you have taken care of yourself, you are better equipped to take care of others. If you have not learned to manage yourself, you will be the person in need of care and attention. You will want it from others and will be dependent on others.

This happens to many people! And, you can see it expressed as,

“No one understands what I go through”

“I do so much but no one cares”

“I do everything for everyone but no one does anything for me!”

“I care for everyone but no one cares about my feelings.”

The common thread through all these statements is the expectation that others will take care of you and then you will feel good and comforted. Simply put, even though you are doing so much for others, you would like them to take care of you! There is nothing wrong with this expectation. But often it happens that others do not reciprocate the care and concern you show for others.

The solution to this problem is Self-care! Only when you have taken care of yourself, you will not be needy for the care of others and will be able to manage yourself better. This will make you a more positive and a stronger individual. You will not expect the care and attention of others. But if it comes your way, it is a pleasant experience.

Hence, taking care of yourself and ensuring that your physical, mental, and emotional health are in order goes a long way in improving the quality of your life and relationships.

What I quote about self-care comes from personal experience. I have gone through the phase in life when I felt neglected and uncared for. I expected it from everyone around me. I was able to change my belief system with the help of mindset books. These books completely transformed my approach to life!

When I learned to take care of my physical health, I fell ill less often and I no longer needed others to nurse me to good health. When I learned to take care of my mental and emotional health, I was more at peace with myself and a happier individual. While it is important to take care of others and take on several responsibilities, everything becomes meaningless if we have neglected ourselves. When we neglect ourselves, when we take on several tasks, we feel overwhelmed and stressed. Our expectations from others increase and this messes up our relationships.

If you want to improve the quality of your life, you do not have to do anything phenomenal! All that you need to do is take care of yourself and watch your life transform, just like mine has!
